Hyundai has revealed the name of its new compact sedan, christened as the Aura. Test-mules of the model has previously been spotted testing, hinting that a launch might not be far away. Once launched, the Hyundai Aura will rival against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo, Tata Tigor and the Ford Aspire.

Based on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the Aura could replace the Xcent. Engine options for the model could include a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre diesel engine, with the latter expected to debut in its BS-VI avatar sometime later. Transmission options on the model are likely to include a five-speed manual gearbox and an AMT unit.

With recent sightings of the Hyundai Aura compact sedan, we already know a few details. The Hyundai Aura will feature a fascia similar to the Grand i10 Nios, including the signature cascading grille design with integrated boomerang-shaped DRLs on either side, projector headlamps, new bumper and fog lights with triangular housings. At the rear, the model features LED tail lights and refreshed bumper that houses the number plate recess. Also on offer could be new alloy wheels.

An image of the Hyundai Aura test-mule’s interior also revealed that the model could come equipped with leather upholstery, steering mounted audio controls and a large touchscreen infotainment system. The Aura compact sedan could also be offered in the dual-tone variant.
