XJ's new generation model has been packed with Jaguar's Intelligent Start/Stop system, which is said to be so fast that the time taken to restart the engine will be less than the time required by the driver to move his foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator. Interestingly, the new XJ has been equipped with a secondary battery to power this start/stop system. At the interiors, the long wheelbase variant of 2014 XJ will be provided with advanced reclining rear seats with massage function, new infotainment system and increased headroom. In order to add to the ride comfort of rear passengers, enhanced suspension have been fitted within the new model.

Coming to the technical specifications of the upcoming model, Jaguar XJ will carry on to feature an option of both petrol land diesel engine options. The diesel variant will be incorporated with a 3.0-litre V6 engine, whereas the petrol version will feature 5.0-litre supercharged V8 powertrain. The power output of XJ's top variant will continue to stand at 542 bhp in the new range as well. Adding to the performance of this drivetrain, it has been mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which, according to company officials, happens to be a perfect blend of smooth shifting, economy and driver control.

With a powerful engine, the 2014 XJ will smoothly glide from initial to 100 kmph within just 4.4 seconds, further clocking a top speed of 280 kmph. Industry experts are of a view that the new generation Jaguar XJ will square off against the likes of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8L, among others.
