Toyota is finally set to introduce the new-generation Fortuner in India. The SUV will be launched in our country tomorrow replacing the current one.
The 2016 Fortuner is also based on the new IMV platform and the new SUV is lighter than the existing one. It is a notch above in terms of appearance, powertrain and features. Some of the highlights in the cabin include ambient lighting, a new touch screen infotainment system with navigation and smartphone compatibility. ABS and airbags will be offered as standard on all variants.
The current Fortuner comes powered by the 3.0-litre and 2.5-litre set of engines. However, the new Toyota Fortuner gets a new 2.8-litre GD diesel unit. Also for the first time, the SUV might get a petrol unit which it will share with the Innova Crysta. The engines will come mated to manual and automatic transmission options.
The highly awaited SUV has started arriving at dealerships as the variant-wise prices will be revealed tomorrow. The new car is expected to demand a premium over the outgoing model. However, knowing the Fortuner to be the best-seller in its segment, we can expect the new SUV to maintain its legacy. It will be interesting to see how the high profile owners and prospective buyers appreciate the new generation Fortuner.
