The classic sports car lovers in India may soon have a big reason to rejoice as rumour has it that Ford might launch it’s much celebrated sports car brand i.e. the Mustang in India. If there's any substance to these reports, the Ford Mustang will then be joining the growing list of international brands now vying for the India's rich and elite's attention. The reports claim that Ford wants to do it right when they bring the Mustang to Indian shores, and is thus developing a right-hand drive version of the car as part of the 50th Anniversary redesign. With an RHD version of the model in its line-up, the chances of the US carmaker launching the model in India seem quite good.

This will be the first time since the Mustang's launch in 1964 that it will be offered with a RHD version, effectively opening up many previously inaccessible markets for the famous car. Other than India, looks like the car will most likely head to the United Kingdom and Australia.

The all-new Mustang will be launched in April, 2014, exactly 50 years after the original was launched in the United States. Though enthusiasts believe that it is the latest global model developed under the company's ‘One Ford’ plan, Ford insists that the iconic car's character will remain unaltered. Dave Pericak, Mustang Chief Engineer, Ford, said, “We didn’t decide to do a global Mustang, we decided to take the Mustang global. Everything we do is to make a Mustang, and then take it global with homologation. We didn’t change the recipe.”
