Fresh images of a few Ford EcoSport test mules have emerged from China. Based on what can be seen, the new vehicle will get fresh upgrades at the front and rear section. The cabin has also got refreshing new upgrades as compared to the current model.
On the exterior, the vehicle will get a redesigned hexagonal grille, re-styled headlamps and tail lamps, and restyled bumpers. On the sides, the vehicle gets turn indicators on ORVMs and new alloy wheels. The spare wheel is not externally mounted and finds place within the boot.
Inside, the new EcoSport sports a new centre console, new display with customisation options and an updated SYNC infotainment system. Much like the one spotted in Brazil, the China spec-model will also get similar looking steering wheel and an instrument console. The dual tone dashboard also gets new rectangular shaped air-conditioning vents which are located below the infotainment system.
The China bound-EcoSport is expected to be powered by an 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that will generate around 121bhp power, while the 1. 5-litre Ti-VCT petrol will generate about 108bhp of power. The engines will come mated to a five speed manual or a six speed Powershift DCT gearbox.
It is anticipated that the new model will be launched in India next year. However, apart from design upgrades, the vehicle is expected to continue being offered with the current engine options.
The Ford EcoSport SUV has been a popular choice in the Indian market since it was launched in 2013. Just a short while ago the American automaker had introduced a more powerful diesel engine option in the Indian market.
