Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to reveal the new E-Class All-Terrain at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. This rugged estate version of the E-Class should hit markets in the first half of 2017.

With the new E-Class All-Terrain, Merc expects to lure customers who need the versatility of an estate and can also take up challenging landscapes. MB’s new variant can take up such tasks due to a higher ground clearance, bigger wheels, and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive that comes as standard equipment. Compared to the standard E-Class estate, the All-Terrain will have the advantage of an extra 29mm, and an air suspension which has three pre-set height levels that range from zero to 35mm.

Merc’s E-Class All-Terrain variant will be called the E220d 4MATIC, and this version will use their newly developed four-cylinder 194bhp diesel motor that comes mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes-Benz will also bring in a six-cylinder diesel unit some time later. Exteriors highlights include a black cladding on the wheel-wells, larger wheels and tyres, and a redesigned grille and bumpers to lend it a more rugged look.

Mercedes-Benz’s new E-Class All-Terrain will lock horns with cars like Volvo’s V90 Cross Country, and the Audi A6 All-Road in the global market.
