Hyundai has been seeing a steady decline in its sales for the past couple of years, especially in the European and American market. This has led to the South Korean automobile giant to face a lot of flak from its investors. To change all this and regain its dominance in the market, Hyundai has been planning to launch a slew of new products. To increase its market share in India, Hyundai has been planning to launch many new products which include the new Verna facelift, and i20 Crossover along with the highly anticipated compact SUV which will be pitted directly against the ruler of the compact SUVs in India, the Renault Duster.
The new SUV from Hyundai was first seen last year at the Annual Beijing Auto show and has already gone on sale in the Chinese market. The car, named ix25 in the Chinese market, will be launched around the festive season this year, in August or September. The car will be launched with a different name in the country and will come in both petrol and diesel variants. The car will be powered by the same 1.4 litre petrol and 1.6 litre diesel engines that power the Hyundai Verna, along with the same automatic and manual transmission option.
The car is styled very aggressively and looks appealing. It is expected to be launched in India with 17-inch alloy wheels, wrap-around headlight clusters, a large and bold grille design along with lower air intakes that house the front fog lights.
The new compact SUV by Hyundai is expected to be priced around Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh that is approximately the same price at which the Renault Duster retails. The most successful compact SUV by the French automobile giants was launched in the year 2012 and since has been a huge success bagging several accolades and awards, and recently even crosses the 1 lakh sales mark in recode time.
With Renault recently launching all new 4x4 Duster called the Duster AWD, Hyundai needs to keep its game ready if it wants its compact SUV to be a success.
