      New BMW X5 diesel production begins, deliveries by this month end

      German car-maker BMW has been in a popular pick in the luxury car segment in the country. The popular X5 SUV has found a lot of takers in the Indian market. The updated X5 SUV in India was recently launched at a starting price of about Rs 70.90 lakh (ex-showroom price). The new BMW has generated a lot of interest among the local crowd and the waiting period for the same has reportedly stretched to about 3 months. The production for the new version has started today and deliveries are due to begin by the end of this month.

      The newer version of X5 is powered by a 3.0 litre diesel engine that is capable of belting out a maximum power output of about 255 Bhp with top torque figures of about 57.1 kgm. A similar engine type currently powers the BMW 530d and BMW 730d saloons. New X5 has received a couple of cosmetic touch ups on the exterior front including an enlarged front grille and head lights.

      Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW X5 takes things to a new level with more sportiness, spaciousness and comfort, offering customers a ‘luxury all-roader’ that meets the most exacting and varied demands. The third generation BMW X5 has received tremendous customer response and excitement since it was first displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. In fact, the first customer booking for the all-new BMW X5 was received at the expo itself. We might also consider ramping up the production to meet the huge demand in the Indian market.”

      The newer version of BMW X5 sports tweaked interiors that is well complimented by a 10.5 inch iDrive screen and a modified dashboard. The successor model possesses enhanced dimensions as compared to the previous model and it is stated to be 29 mm longer and 5 mm wider than its predecessor.
