The Germany based leading luxury car maker BMW has recently revealed that it’s all new 550 dX model will the first one to come powered by its new generation Triturbo 3.0 liter diesel engine (in-line six-cylinder). Besides the 550 dX, the customers who will be buying one of the two variants of this car (X5 xDrive 50d or X6 xDrive 50d) will have the pleasure of experiencing the superb performance of this latest generation engine which is blessed with a number of new age performance enhancing technologies along with two exhaust turbochargers along with an electrically driven turbocharger.
The power - packed engine of the car is capable of delivering a massive peak power of 376 bhp along with a top torque of 516 lb/ft torque. Both power and torque figures of the new Triturbo 3.0 liter diesel are considerably higher as compared to previous generation engines of these models. The performing engine of the car comes coupled with four wheel drive system and an eight speed automatic gearbox.
The new 550 dX model, powered with this new engine will be able to cross the speed barrier of 100 km per hour in just 5 seconds. Top speed of the car will be 155 miles per hour.
