Audi, the German luxury carmaker, recently unveiled the new Audi Q7 crossover at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Motor Show). The company has already started testing the crossover on Indian roads, indicating the vehicle's near launch in India. However, Audi India will first launch the 2015 Q3 Crossover by the second quarter of this year.

The second generation Q7 features the same silhouette as its predecessor, but the majority of the changes are given are underneath. Based on the new MLB architecture, the new model is about 325kg lighter than the previous model. Dimensionally, the Q7 crossover is 5.05 meters long, 1.95 meters wide and 1.74 meters high, and the wheelbase stands at 2.99 meters.

The new Audi Q7 will be made available in both 3.0-litre petrol and diesel fuel options in India. The petrol engine is capable of producing a top power output of 333bhp and a peak torque of 440Nm, whereas the diesel engine produces 272bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. Both engines will be tweaked to offer better fuel efficiency. While the oil burner is claimed to offer 26 per cent more fuel efficiency, the petrol model is 23 per cent more efficient than the current model. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed gearbox which sends power to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. Audi has also added a new 2.0-litre TFSI petrol unit that is good for 249bhp of power and 370Nm of torque.
