National Geographic Channel and Nissan have come together to enthral the television viewers by taking them through the limitless terrains of India as a part of its new adventure reality show X-treme Trail. The 6 part series, to be telecasted for the first time on 5th November at 8 pm, can be seen simultaneously on National Geographic Channel, Fox Traveller, Star World and Channel V.

National Geographic Channel, known for walking on untravelled roads and exploring things by going deep down, will present the complete inside-out of off-roading through a journey comprising 8 contestants. The selected drivers have undergone stringent training, in order to handle the rough conditions of the dunes of Rajasthan and drive through the dense jungles of Rajaji National Park and the trans-Himalayan ranges in Himachal and Ladakh.

The sifted out contenders will get a lifetime opportunity to display their skills and mettle in extreme situations, as they wander in the X-Trail, a powerful SUV from Nissan. The contestants who stand out will get a chance to pay respect to the Indian Army warriors, as the final stages of the competition will take them to the highest battle field on earth, Siachen Glacier.

Stating his views over the premier of X-treme Trail, Ramon Chibb, Senior Vice-President, Content, National Geographic Network India said, “Nat Geo has always worked with like-minded brands on creating some of the best integrated properties in the past. Adventure and exploration is in the DNA of National Geographic Channel and through our association with Nissan for X-treme Trail, we will bring out the powerful imagery of the extreme Indian terrains through an adrenaline pumping drama.”

Dinesh Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Hover Automotive India, Nissan’s Sales and Marketing partner in India said that the 19 amateur drivers taking part in X-treme Trail were stunned by the drivability offered by X-Trail. The final two drivers, adjudged as winners, who successfully drove through the most unpredictable terrains in the world, the Siachen Glacier, also echoed their competitors. They said that the crossover SUV has been designed in a way that perfectly compliments the city as well off-road conditions.

Nissan has launched the X-treme Trail Limited Edition, X-trail on the sidelines of the adventurous program. The SUV will offer an unprecedented driving experience and the limited edition crossover will be on sale from the month of November 2012 at all the Nissan's 45 dealerships across India.

“The expedition was one of its own kinds of experience which comprise the journey of more than 4,000 km, 32 days of shoot with a crew base of more than 40 people. We are very excited about this initiative as for the very first time a reality adventure show on Nat Geo will be telecasted simultaneously on four different channels, Nat Geo, FOX Traveller, Star World and Channel V,” Chibb added.

The series has been promoted at a very large scale through a 360 degree marketing campaign including outdoor advertising, print and radio.

Nissan & National Geographic Channel will also bring out a contest wherein participants can log on to www.natgeotv.co.in/xtremetrail and submit their ‘X-tremeadventure’ stories. The 4 best entries will win an adventure trip to Rishikesh.

Thus, Nissan seems to cross all barriers, in terms of strategies, by launching the X-Trail with such hype and enthusiasm.
