After a historic win registered by Narendra Modi in the recently held polls for the central government, now the question rises whether the dynamic persona shall resume his duties everyday at work driving around in a commonly sighted BMW's for country's top leaders or whether he shall continue to drive around a locally made Mahindra Scorpio. In the past, Scorpio has been a preferred pick by the minister for promotions during election rallies and results days in Gujarat. It is now to be seen if the same SUV finds a new address in one of country top locations in the capital.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, expressing his views on the bonding said, "It will be a matter of pride for us and for the whole nation if our new PM continues to make the India-made Scorpio his vehicle of choice." As per sources, the Indian car-maker has reportedly been working on implementing required technical security updates to the vehicle in order to make it compatible with the PM security standards. Speaking more on the security aspect, Pawan Goenka, president of Mahindra & Mahindra's automotive division said, “We would like to see him continue on a Scorpio. We need to have a dialogue with the SPG to understand the security apparatus and requirements.”

Since Narendra Modi's days as the CM of Gujarat, a fleet of bullet-proof Scorpio SUV's has been a part and parcel of his security cover. Goenka further added, “We are capable of upgrading the vehicle to whatever standards that may be sought, including having a more powerful engine on board as well as other security needs.” Vehicles used as security cover have been loaded with high-level of sophistication and have been designed to withstand attacks from heavy-calibre ammunition and explosives. Super strong special steel have been used for the armor plates fit over the bodywork. Apart from it, the vehicles shall features run-flat tyres, a self-sealing fuel tank and an attack alarm. Moreover, the vehicle shall also feature an intercom system, that enables the occupants to communicate with the outside world without exiting the vehicle or opening the doors or its windows.
