Narain Karthikeyan, the first Indian racing driver to take part in the FIA Formula One World Championship, believes that his car has the pace to beat off the competition but the mechanical errors have spoiled the 2012-13 season for team HRT - Cosworth.

Narain Karthikeyan partners the Spanish driver Pedro De La Rosa for the team HRT and currently, both the drivers are sitting at the bottom of the F1 Race Driver Standings with 24 and 25 positions, respectively. Accordingly, the team HRT - Cosworth too features at the bottom of the F1 Constructor Standings with 0 points. The Indo-Spanish pair failed to inspire and could not score any points so far the ongoing season.

Commenting on the speed prospects of the remaining races of the current season, Karthikeyan said, "I would definitely like the possibility since I have clearly proved that I have the speed to deserve a shot higher up the grid. But having said that, I think they have their own plans as always so for now I am concentrating on finishing this season on a strong note."

Commenting on the speculations regarding his future with the team HRT - Cosworth, Karthikeyan said, "Right now I would like to stay with HRT for 2013 as we can expect more progress with proper infrastructure which has been in place now. I think it will be decided over the winter once the season is through."

The Indian Formula One exponent will be looking towards finishing at a decent position and securing first points for his team at the upcoming 2012 Airtel Formula One Indian Grand Prix to be held from October 26-28, 2012. The Buddh International Circuit, considered among the fastest circuits in the world, is the official venue of the Indian Grand Prix and with just a week left the Formula One fervour among the Indian fans of the global motorsport is at its peak.
