Audi is planning to expand it SUV portfolio not only for body-styles but also for performance. After the S series of SUVs, we will now have a bunch of RS Qs. We all know what the RS badge means for an Audi - have insanely powerful mills breathing under their hoods.

The first SUV to get the RS badge was the Q3 and primarily because it is a crossover. As of now, Audi has three more SUVs, the Q2, the Q5 and the Q7 in their line up with the Q8 joining in time to come. We already have the performance versions of the Q5, the SQ5 and the Q7, the SQ7. The SQ5 was introduced at Detroit earlier this year and is powered by the 3.0-lite petrol V6 mill producing 354bhp of power. The SQ7 on the other hand, gets a V8 diesel engine that develops over 450bhp of power.

Mercedes and BMW have created a space for performance packed SUVs with the G-AMGs and the X-Ms. The RSQ5 and the RSQ7, will certainly be more powerful than their S counterparts which indicates only in one direction – twin-turbocharged petrol V8 engines from the RS7. The horsepower will be north of 500bhp for each with torque numbers beyond 600Nm at least. Whether any of these cars will come to India is still a long shot as Audi is yet to bring the SQ7 which was promised to us a long time ago.
