After the success launch of Mahindra Xylo, the company now gears up its strength towards upcoming new launches this year. It has recently launched the multi-purpose vehicle Xylo and later this year it plans to launch mass- market light cargo product that will compete with Tata Ace. Moreover, the company is also planning to tap overseas markets with its sports-utility vehicles like Scorpio and Bolero. It will launch its global SUV product in 2010 which will mark company’s entry in the overseas markets.
“Xylo is the first of our new platform products lined up between this year and 2010. While the Xylo is positioned between the Bolero and Scorpio SUVs, the global SUV product will be positioned above the Scorpio, though it will be more mass market than the Ford Endeavour or Honda CRV price category,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, M&M’s Chief Of Operations.
Mahindra’s Scorpio, Bolero and Xylo are targeted towards domestic and exports market. The company has to synergise the production lines for all three products but the company has flexible assembly lines so it can increase or decrease production of one or the other depending upon the demand, says Jejurikar.
