Mahindra and Mahindra and Renault have decided to part ways in the joint venture company. M&M will buy out stake from Renault and will manufacture the entry level sedan model Logan under its own brand name. However, the joint venture may be over but future prospects are still under negotiations between the two companies.

M&M is talking to Renault to use the Logan platform to build more cars on similar platform. Renault will continue to get royalty for Logan model or any other cars built on similar platform. M&M is considering buying rights to build M&M vehicles on the same platform, said Pawan Goenka, President (automotive and farm equipment sector), M&M. “The Logan platform is a very good and a capable platform. What we will do going ahead is still unclear but we are discussing with Renault for the usage of platform,” he said.

Logan platform currently is used in small car hatchback model Sandero and SUV Duster. M&M is also working on building a re-styled and re-designed Logan for the Indian market. It is expected that Logan may be re-introduced as a small car in the compact car segment.
