The German manufacturer, Volkswagen, is all set to revamp their long time running horse, the Jetta. The spy shots of the next generation Jetta confirm that the mid-sized sedan is all set to be pushed in to production.

The spotted sedan displays a revamped front end and the new car houses a grille larger than ever seen on any of the Jetta so far. The headlamps get chrome inserts and are styled to be wrapping around on the edges of the car. The air damp is now sleeker and the lower end of the bumper is designed to double up as the splitter. The side profile of the car confirms that the car hasn’t been designed by the same Germans - the shoulder line is now stronger and striking. However, the overall design is still very low key. The tail lamps now carry a sleeker styling and the bumper is upswept with an integrated diffuser.

The seventh generation Jetta is expected to be based on the newly developed MQB platform recently seen in the 2018 Polo. However, the new front wheel drive oriented MQB platform will allow the manufacturer to offer a roomier cabin in the new car. The power source for the new car is expected to be the same as before – 1.4-litre TSI, 1.8-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI. However, a hybrid power plant is highly anticipated with the new car.

The debut of the MK7 Jetta can only be anticipated early next year and when it is launched in the Indian market, the car will continue to rival against Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis and the new Skoda Octavia.
