This SUV, a plug-in hybrid crossover utility vehicle, is promised to have the strong looks of the Outlander and a hybrid powerplant powered by a 2.0 Liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors of 60 kW (80hp/81PS) which would further enhance its off road driving experience and fuel efficiency.

Moreover, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is loaded with a powerful battery that can fuel the vehicle till 50 Km and as the charge reduces, the vehicle can be run by plugging onto the petrol engine. This SUV enters the Parallel Hybrid Mode when the vehicle is driven on highways. In this mode, the electric motor and the petrol engine work simultaneously to outpour maximum power required to make the drive at highways more comfortable, economic and adventurous. The fuel usage of the Mitsubishi PX-MiEV concept, as estimated by the company is 60 km/Liter with an overall range of 800 km.

Mitsubishi is currently investing huge capital on the production of the compact SUV Outlander Plug-in Hybrid and it will be counted as one of the 8 Hybrid vehicles that the company is targeting to launch globally by 2016.
