      Micra Helps Nissan Gain Firm Footing in India

      Nissan India is increasing its footprints in the Indian market. The company is coming up with five new dealerships in various cities across the country including Vijayawada, Bhopal, Jaipur, Navi Mumbai and Bhubaneswar. There are Nissan dealership in nearly 13 states in the country and Nissan intends to expand its network to 20 dealerships before the end of this month.

      "We had a short-term objective of establishing 20 dealerships by July 2010 and we are happy to state that we have been well on track with our plans. Going forward, we hope to continue our endeavour to increase our footprint and to provide total customer satisfaction with high-quality service standards," said Nissan Motor India MD & CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama.

      Nissan posted total sales of 1005 units in July 2010 of which 928 units were accounted for by Nissan Micra sales. "Out of the remaining, Nissan Teana, the luxury sedan (CBU) clocked 27 units and SVU Nissan X-trail registered sales of 50 units," said the official statement from Nissan India. Last year it had sold only 25 units in the same month comprising of sale of 17 units of Teana and 8 units of X-Trail.
