Mercedes has yesterday introduced the new Mercedes R class in the Indian market. The car is nicknamed to be the “rich man’s Innova” with features similar to the Japanese model but with a Mercedes brand tag.
The vehicle is priced at Rs 58.79 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). “We are very optimistic about the R-Class as it fits right in place with our existing brands in the country. It comes in between the M-Class and the GL-Class and opens an entirely new segment," said Mercedes Benz India Director (sales & marketing) Debashis Mitra. According to Mercedes, the new R class combines sedan like performance, all wheel-drive SUV confidence and provides power with a 3498cc V6 petrol engine.
Mercedes currently sells C, E, S, GL and M Class vehicle range in India and the new 7-seater R-Class is expected to open give a new dimension to sales. Mercedes also stated that it has already met its sales target for the current calendar year and looks forward to a promising and more optimistic fiscal year ending as well.
