On the other hand, the petrol variant of the new Mercedes C-Class is equipped with a 1.8-litre four cylinder engine. The maximum power of this new sedan is expected to be around 186 bhp, along with torque of around 285 Nm. This new vehicle is going to be powered by a direct-injected twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The car is likely to be available with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the sedan is expected to have a better fuel efficiency as compared to the previous C-Class model.

According to the company, there have been few distinctive alterations done to the 2012 C-Class sedan, which has an attractive front and rear. On comparing this with the 2011 C-class sedan, the new sedan scores well in terms of looks. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been given a conservative look, yet stylish and appealing.

Moreover, Mercedes cars hardly lack in features when it comes to luxury. With respect to its interiors, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is loaded with comfort and luxury attributes. The new sedan sports a new dashboard that includes a high-resolution colour display in the instrument cluster. Besides the cabin trim and the fine finish add up to its features. In addition, the C-Class model also has intelligent light system and the daytime time running lights.

To ensure a safe drive, the company has introduced five new safety features in the 2012 C-Class Sedan. The new Mercedes-Benz has Attention Assist drowsiness detection system (fitted as standard), along with optional Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Park Assist w/Parktronic, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist.

Mercedes-Benz India Director (Sales and Marketing) Debashis Mitra has been quoted saying that “Setting new standards in its segment, this new C-Class will occupy an excellent position in the competitive line-up.” Mercedes is targeting young executives and businessman with the stylish and efficient sedan. He further added that the company has plans to sell 250-300 units of the new C-Class as against 200 units of the outgoing version.

The C-Class models contribute 40-45 percent of the carmaker's total sales in India. This new car is expected to be priced around Rs. 29 lacs and is going to be among the cheapest models of Mercedes-Benz. The low pricing of the model is expected to contribute towards better sales of the new 2012 C-Class Sedan.

With innovative features, stylish appearance and high performance, Mercedes new C-Class sedan is speculated to give tough competition to other cars in its segment.
