Mercedes has recently been opting for two-digit nomenclature which is in line with the traditional AMG performance cars. This time around, the GLE 450 AMG coupe which was launched earlier this year, will now be sold as the 450 AMG.
A recent report on import units revealed that the GLE 43 Coupe shares technical specification with the existing GLE 450. Further investigation revealed that the official Mercedes AMG global website now only shows the 43 AMG and which should then ideally be used in India as well.The Mercedes-AMG GL3 43 coupe will continue to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin turbo petrol engine which generates 367bhp of power and 520Nmof torque. All four wheels are powered by a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC transmission and 4MATIC AWD. This enables the vehicle to sprint from 0-100kmph in just about 5.7 seconds. The car gets Dynamic Select function with five drive modes like – Individual, Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Sport Plus.
On the design aspect, the car features multibeam LED headlamps, diamond pattern grille with single slat, large air intakes, 21-inch forged rims and LED taillamps. For safety, it comes with Adaptive Airbags, Active Parking Assist,Adaptive High Beam and Attention Assist. Inside, it sports an eight-inch Comand freestanding display and dual toned premium leather upholstery.
Competing against the BMWs X6, the GLE Coupe is indeed a first attempt by the luxury automaker to offer a crossover influenced by a coupe’s style.
