      Mercedes-Benz to launch the GLS this year, unveil at 2016 Auto Expo

      After an excellent last year, Mercedes-Benz will carry forward the momentum this year as well. The German automaker launched 15 products last year and this year too it will be getting 12 products. The Stuttgart-based automaker has already launched the GLE Coupe in January and February is when it will be unveiling the new GLS, the facelift version of the GL-Class.

      The GLS is a facelift version of the GL-Class and Mercedes-Benz The GLS will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine that churns 258bhp of power and 620 Nm of maximum torque. This will come mated to a nine-speed transmission (9G-TRONIC). This is a new transmission as the current GL-Class has a seven-speed self-shifting box. The AMG-spec GLS will be launched by yer end or something in early 2017.

      The GLS will be launched as GLS 350d and it will have 4MATIC and AIRMATIC suspension as a standard feature. The exterior changes on the GLS are new set of headlamps with multi beam LED DRLs, revised grille, bumpers, redesigned tail lamps, new diffuser. On the inside, there is the COMAND system with a new larger screen with fingertip-based controller. The GLS will be assembled in Mercedes-Benz’s Chakan plant in Pune, Maharashtra.
