2014 seems to be coming along rather well for Mercedes-Benz as it gets ready to roll out its 50,000th car manufactured at its Chakan plant on January 28, 2014. A milestone as immense as this definitely calls for celebration and the German luxury car maker just has the right celebratory idea in mind. The company will commemorate the aforementioned landmark via the launch of a special edition of its iconic car C-Class, which will be known as the 'C Class Grand Edition'.

The C Class has been much famous throughout the world and now Mercedes-Benz is gearing up for the new generation of the C Class as it introduced a worldwide ad-campaign using the slogan, “The best knows no alternative for its new C-Class. Dr Jens Thiemer, Vice President, Marketing Communications, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, said, “The new C-Class is the highest-quality premium model in the medium-class segment. It uncompromisingly underlines the brand’s claim “The Best” to leadership.”

Coming back to the Indian arm of the German manufacturer, most of its cars like the C Class, ML Class, GL Class, E Class and the S Class are assembled locally in order to reign in the costs. And considering the prodigious response their most affordable vehicle in the country i.e. A-Class has received since its launch, they are now looking to manufacture it locally. Currently, it is brought in the country via the CBU route.

Talking about their Chakan plant, this facility currently has the capacity of producing 10,000 units per year. But the company is working hard to raise that number to 20,000 cars per year by the end of this year.
