      Mercedes-Benz has further extended the S-Class model range in the country with the launch of S400 at Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The newly launched sedan will be manufactured at the company’s production facility in Chakan, Pune.

      Under the hood, the Mercedes S400 comes with 2,996cc V6 engine that generates 330bhp at 5250 - 6000rpm and torque output of 480Nm at 1600-4000rpm. The powerful engine comes mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus transmission that offers more dynamic response and ensures reduced fuel consumption. In terms of unique features, the vehicle comes with a hot stone massage function with six different programs. Occupants get to choose from two intensities – low and high, and the seat backrest comes with a massage mat with 14 air chambers which can be inflated or deflated via fast responding solenoid valves, developing a wave-like massage effect. The massage function is remote controlled and comes with duration ranging between 12-15 minutes.

      In terms of safety, the vehicle comes with eight airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), PRE-SAFE, Dynamic cornering control system, Adaptive Brake with Hold Function, Brake Assist, ASR Hill Start Assist, 360 Degree Surround View Camera and an Active Park Assist. For the convenience of rear passengers, the vehicle comes with individual entertainment systems and the COMAND online New Generation Telematics 5 (NTG5) with animated menus and 3D effects apart. Moreover, the vehicle also gets an HDD to store music and videos, WLAN hotspot, SMS display, phone contact reader, radio and navigation.

      The feature list just does not end there. The Mercedes-Benz S400 comes with ambient lights with 7 different colour and 5 dimming levels to adjust the lighting as per mood. The panoramic sunroof is great for star gazing.

      The S400 is the new base petrol variant in the S-Class range. It is the only V6 petrol luxury sedan in the segment, as most of its competitors are available with only the V8 petrol engine.
