      Mercedes-Benz reveals top-of-the-line GLS SUV

      German automaker Mercedes-Benz has finally unveiled the new GLS SUV which comes as a successor to globally loved GL-class. The seven-seater SUV comes as a top-of-the-line offering that is expected to set new benchmarks in its segment. Post launch it is expected to emerge as a strong competitor against the Range Rover line in India.

      Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLS would be offered with three petrol engine options - A 3.0-litre V6 engine that would generate about 328bhp, 4.7-litre engine that would generate about 449bhp and the third option would be 5.5-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine that would generate about 557bhp. The diesel trim on the other hand would get a 3.0-litre V6 engine mated to 4MATIC all-time all-wheel-drive that could generate about 255bhp of power and 617Nm of torque. It is also believed that the automaker may also offer a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox for the Indian market as well. The optional active roll stabilisation ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM uses active anti-roll bars on the front and rear axle and reduces the roll angle of the body during cornering. Better driving comfort both when cornering and on straights and extended off-road capabilities are also part of the advantages of the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM.

      The new Mercedes-Benz GLS gets fresh cosmetic upgrades in terms new twin-blade grill design, tweaked bumpers, newly designed alloy wheels and a larger Mercedes-Benz logo. Inside, the vehicle gets infotainment system and multi-function steering wheel. As a fresh upgrade the vehicle gets six-mode Dynamic Select system instead of the regular five-mode system. Moreover, apart from the Individual, Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Off-Road modes, the vehicle additionally gets an additionally Off-road Plus mode.
