Mercedes-Benz has just filed 12 trademarks for its upcoming EQ electric vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz registers a dozen monikers for EQ brand

The 12 monikers are filed in Canada for EQ A and EQ B vehicles which will arrive in a couple of years’ time after the EQ C SUV rolls out in 2019. The six EQ A names are – EQA 200, EQA 250, EQA 260, EQA 300, EQA 320, EQA 350 and EQA 360. And the same six numbers are trademarked for the EQB badging as well. As a Mercedes tradition, the numbers following the model variant hint at the powertrain details. But, at this moment it not clear whether the badging hints at the kW or the horsepower output of the corresponding variant. The numbers could even be the electric range of these BEVs. What’s even intriguing is that these numbers are very closely spaced.

Back in 2016, Mercedes also trademarked the EQA, EQC, EQE, EQG and EQS names in the United Kingdom. The Generation EQ Concept was showcased right after that and Mercedes started calling its 48V electric powertrain by EQ Boost. More details of this EQ monikers will surface when the production-ready EQ C will be revealed sometime in 2019 and GO on sale a year later.
