      Mercedes Benz India to roll-out five new compact car models by 2015

      Mercedes Benz India, a unit of the Germany based leading luxury car brand, is planning an aggressive expansion of its India portfolio in the coming years. The company is planning to launch as many as five new compact premium cars in the Indian auto market over the period of next four years. The plan is to add all of its 10 latest global products in the company’s product line-up in India.

      Moreover, the company will be investing a sum of over Rs 350 crore in the Indian market over the period of next two to three years. The investment will be utilized to expand its capacity at Pune based plant along with setting-up a new paint shop and two assembly lines for its future products like A and B Class cars.

      In A recent statement, Mr. Dieter Zetsche, head of Mercedes-Benz Cars and Chairman of the board of management ofDaimler, said, "India is an important growth market for us, where we see potential. We definitely see a high demand for vehicles of the A- and B-class segments in India."

      While elaborating the company’s future portfolio expansion plans in India, Mr. Matthias Luhrs, Chairman at Mercedes Benz India, said, "Over the next five years, Mercedes Benz has lined up 10 new launches globally and our aim is to reach out to the Indian market as fast as possible."
