Mercedes-Benz India, the domestic subsidiary of German luxury car maker, is all set for a May 16, 2013 launch of its much awaited GL-Class Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the country. The soon-to-be launched 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL350 CDI model would be unveiled during a special ceremony in New Delhi. As per reports, tennis legend Boris Becker would be present at the launch event of German auto maker’s new SUV.

Mercedes-Benz has also started a brand awareness campaign on Facebook, called ‘Served with the Stars’, with which it is offering Indians a chance to meet Boris Becker. One needs to answer few questions correctly, in order to meet the famous tennis player. The German auto maker said in a statement, “A date with a legend. It could be yours! Just answer our questions and you could win a chance to meet Boris Becker in Delhi, or win your child a pass to Boris Becker’s tennis clinic in Bangalore. Participate now.”

The upcoming GL350 CDI is the latest model to join the iconic GL-Class line-up and would be the first model to be launched by Mercedes-Benz in the country this year. The first batch of the new GL-Class SUV would arrive at Indian shores via Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, however, the company could begin localised assembly of the model if its demand catches up in the Indian auto market.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL350 CDI SUV is anticipated to come fitted with a 3.0 litre oil burner, which could churn out a peak power and torque outputs of 255 bhp and 632 Nm, respectively. Further, the engine assembly could come mated with a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
