An electric sub brand to rival the likes of the Tesla and BMW’s ‘i’ is in the pipeline from the German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz. The popularity of electric vehicles/ alternate fuel vehicles is expected to grow substantially over the next few years and it looks like everyone wants a slice of the pie. The automaker is expected to launch two sedans and an SUV as a part of the offering.

The German automaker is expected to announce the brand during the upcoming Paris Motor Show and will also unveil an electric sedan concept car which will have a range of 480km (300 miles) but be priced upwards of Rs 1.3 crore (200,000 USD).

Reports suggest that the cars will be produced at their Bremen facility. The first vehicle to come out this factory will be an electric/hydrogen powered GLC. This is expected to be joined by an electric Smart car as well as the recently unveiled electric semi-truck.  It had previously sold an electric B-Class and for a limited time period an electric SLS AMG but both were met with mixed results.
