A long wheelbase version of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan will be showcased at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. As the name suggests, it will be a longer version of the German automaker’s mid-size sedan but will have the same engine and underpinnings.
The extended length is expected to be available entirely in the form of a longer wheelbase which consequently means more space in the back, a known preference of the Chinese luxury car buyer. The SWB version is 4.92 metres while this one’s extended length will be 5.062 metres. This means the wheelbase stretches from 2.92 to 3.068 metres.
Given its obvious thrust at being a more luxurious option than the standard car, the rear seat passengers are expected to get a few more fancier options which we suspect will be along the lines of a rear seat entertainment package, seat massage functions and probably fold away tables.
The car is currently only a China only model and for other markets this model may be converted into a car under the Maybach moniker.
