The next generation Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class was spotted testing in Germany, and inspite of the intense sticker job, the model’s curvy outline easily revealed its true identity.
Sources suggest that the upcoming CLS has similar exterior design cues when compared to the E-Class Coupe. Furthermore, this model may also share the underpinnings and powerplants from the E-Class. So, expect the entire line-up of motors that include the E-Class’ four, six and eight cylinder configurations.
There are rumours that an AMG version may also make it to the range too. If this is true, then the AMG E63 S’ 4.0-litre V8 motor would be an obvious choice. This motor produces 612bhp and spins out a healthy 850Nm of torque. With electrification inevitable on the future line-up, it is possible that the next CLS could also get a plug-in hybrid version.
Mercedes-Benz’ product roadmap shared in July 2016 did not reveal the launch details for the CLS in 2017. Going by this, it is possible that the next-gen CLS-Class could hit markets globally in 2018. Stay tuned to CarTrade for more news.
