German car maker Mercedes-Benz, according to a report by Autocar, will be introducing the AMG C 63 S in India towards the end of 2015. This model, a performance version of C Class, will come with a price tag in excess of INR 1.2 crore. Albeit the AMG C 63 is available in two versions across various international markets, the German company will launch only the S variant in India. Mercedes-Benz has been vociferous about its plans to add 15 models to its portfolio in the sub-continent and the AMG C 63 S is set to be one among them.

Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63 S will be equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which is also fitted in AMG GT and AMG GT S models. This model is expected to trump the power and torque levels of the standard AMG C 63 version and produce a maximum output of around 503 BHP. Interestingly, Mercedes-Benz is also going to launch the AMG GT flagship model towards the end of the year in India.

The AMG C 63 S is expected to have a niche customer base consisting of only the elite who are luxury car aficionados. Set to compete with BMW M3 sedan, this model could do well if it gets marketed in the proper way. The price of Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63 will be high due to it being brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

Quite noticeably, the brand with the three-pointed star has been trying to make a strong case for its AMG performance brand in India. The introductions of AMG C 63 S and GT S could spur on the sales of Mercedes-Benz’s performance brand. Currently, the AMG models on sale in the Indian market include GL 63, E 63, CLA 45, SLK 55, GLA 45 and ML 63.
