Engineers at Mercedes-AMG are believed to have underpinned the GT4 concept with the front engine, rear-wheel-drive MRA architecture. This is the same platform which is shared with all Mercedes-Benz cars ranging from the C-Class through to the S-Class.

Power for the GT4 will come from the 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 AMG motor. It will be equipped with an AWD system with drift mode, and have a small electric motor which uses a 48V electrical system. Reports claim that the GT4 is crafted with more lightweight materials thanks to the increased use of aluminium and high-strength steel.

It is anticipated that the upcoming GT4 may hit the global market sometime in 2018 and will be the replacement for the CLS Shooting Brake. This car will lock horns with the Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, and the BMW 6 Series Grand Coupe. We will bring you more news on the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT4 concept in the weeks to come.
