Michelin has listed the AMG GT R as one of the attendees of the Supercar Paddock at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this June. The highly anticipated version of the AMG GT is expected to deliver 570bhp and should reach showrooms by 2017.
Mercedes-AMG has confirmed the plans of launching the more powerful GT R, in March this year. It will be the most performance focused of the GTs, as the line up is eventually expected to expand to five trims. The AMG GT R will be lighter than the standard and the S trim with more functional aerodynamics to offer better dynamic control. The production model is expected to be an extension of the GT3 race car that was unveiled last year.
The AMG GT R will cost lot more than the S trim, which currently carries a price tag of over USD 1,60,000 (Rs 1.07 crore) in the international markets. It will compete with the Porsche 911 GT3 and may be launched in India later next year as CBU with pricing around Rs 3 crore.
