The Mercedes AMG GT R has clocked a lap time of 02:09:853 at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). It has earned itself the badge of becoming the fastest production car to set this new record.
This record breaking lap time was governed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). Mercedes' AMG driver Christian Hohenadel managed to accomplish this feat with the GT R breaking the previous lap record held again by Mercedes. Earlier it was the SLS AMG which had managed a lap time of 2:14:521.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R has the racing traits and a staggering performance to achieve this record. It comes powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill that belts out 585bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz will launch this record-setting car in India on 21 August.
