The Mercedes-AMG GT R and the GT Roadster will be launched in India tomorrow. Mercedes-Benz India will announce the prices and add these cars to their AMG portfolio at an event in Delhi.

Mercedes to launch AMG GT R and AMG GT Roadster tomorrow

Both these cars will be range-topping models, but the AMG GT R surely has an edge over the Roadster. A 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine powers both, but produces 585bhp and 700Nm of torque in the GT R. The same engine is tuned to produce 470bhp and 630Nm of torque in the Roadster. After all, the GT R is based on the Nurburgring 24-hour race winning Mercedes GT3.

The GT R also differentiates itself from the GT S already on sale in India. The former is lighter thanks to the 20-inch aluminium wheels and titanium silencer. The GT R reaches 100kmph from standstill in just 3.6 seconds. Furthermore, it is the first AMG model to feature rear wheel steering too.

The German carmaker is bringing these two models to India exactly after a month after it launched the AMG GLC 43 Coupe at Rs 74.8 lakhs (ex-showroom). Both the sportscars are expected to be priced well over Rs 2 crores. Their launch will mark 50 years of the AMG brand.
