Mercedes-AMG’s boss, Tobias Moers, has told reporters that their ultimate focus will shift to electrified vehicles and are planning to launch an all-electric supercar in the near future.

Mercedes-AMG chalks out their electric vehicle plans

"There will be an AMG pure electric car but I don't know when. Because otherwise AMG will disappear as a brand,” he said. Though there’s no details as of now, this pure electric car will serve as a successor to the SLS Electric Drive, the brand’s only pure electric AMG till date. While the SLS Electric Drive has four electric motors that’s fitted to each wheel, the vehicle is capable of a total output of 740bhp and an electrifying 999Nm of torque.
“That car [SLS Electric Drive] is still unbeaten on the Nurburgring, it's still the record holder for electric driven production cars, and it was six years ago when we engineered that car,” Moers added. It sure looks like the next big thing to surface will be the details of the Mercedes-AMG hybrid hypercar. Moers has confirmed that this hypercar will not just be inspired by Formula 1 technologies, but will also use an F1 engine!
More on the AMG all-electric supercar shall be shared with you in the time to come, so stay tuned to CarTrade.
