McLaren 650S replacement has been teased by the manufacturer ahead of its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The new car will become the second-generation Super Series in the McLaren portfolio.

McLaren teases new Super Series which is twice as aerodynamically efficient

The teaser showcases the active rear wing of the codenamed P14 car flaunting its aerodynamic prowess. According to McLaren, the P14 will be twice as efficient, aerodynamically, than the outgoing 650S. It will have an increased downforce and an improved cooling efficiency of up to 15 per cent owing to the airflow over the radiators through a newly-designed dihedral doors. The active rear wing teased extends over the rear and can be deployed in less than half a seconds for the characteristic air-braking of the McLaren, whereas can be adjusted in angles to optimize aerodynamics. The dihedral doors that will cohere the second-generation Super Series will have two separate air ducts integrated within the door structure similar to one seen on the McLaren P1. The one on top forces air onto the radiators, while the other draws air out of the front wheel arch to create increased downforce.

Introduced in 2014, the 650S makes up the McLaren’s Super Series line-up. Its successor has been spotted testing and is speculated to be called “720S” owing to the biturbo 3.8-litre V8 pumping out as much as 720hp. McLaren will reveal the new-generation Super Series lineage on March 7th with further images and pricing.
