McLaren debuts 570S GT4 in China

The McLaren 570S GT4 was unveiled at the first round of the 2017 China GT championship. It is built around a carbon fibre chassis like the Sports Series model. It also gets a wider track which accommodates the lightweight cast magnesium alloy wheels shod with slick Pirelli racing tyres. The bodywork makes extensive use of carbon fibre and aluminium to keep it light. The downforce has been improved with the addition of a new aluminium wing at the back, bonnet nostrils and a front splitter. At the heart of the McLaren 570S GT4 is the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The McLaren 570S GT4 spent the last few months in development at the British GT championship. Now, this car is eligible for all GT4 homologated championships from the 2017 season. In these championships, the McLaren 570S GT4 will compete against the likes of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
