After four years of existence, the Maserati Ghibli got its first major update. The Italian sedan is now called the Ghibli GranLusso and gets a few design tweaks and added features. The new Ghibli GranLusso will be showcased at the Chengdu Motor Show which starts on 3 September.

The most prominent design tweaks include a chrome treatment on the fascia. The iconic Maserati grille is now done in chrome. There are additional chrome inserts on the bumper vents. The rear bumper gets a blink-and-miss update. There are ‘GranLusso’ badges on the front fenders as well. Maserati claims that the design tweaks have also “contributed to a substantial improvement of the aerodynamic efficiency”.

Apart from the styling update, the GranLusso debuts features such as adaptive full-LED headlights with glare free ‘matrix high-beam’. Maserati has also fitted the new GranLusso Ghibli with new ADAS (active driver assistance systems). The Modena-based carmaker says that this driver assist system will allow the carmaker ‘to enter the world of autonomous driving.”
