The ongoing labor strike at Maruti’s Manesar manufacturing plant got intensified on Monday when the court rejected the bail plea of three union leaders, who were arrested on Sunday. The three main union leaders, who were arrested by police on Sunday include President Sonu Gujjar, general secretary Shiv Kumar and an executive committee member of Maruti Suzuki Employees Union Ravinder Kumar.

Now as the bail plea has been rejected, all of them will be in judicial custody at Bhondsi jail for 14 days. The new bail application for these three union leaders is expected to be filled today. In statement given on Monday, Rajesh Kumar, general secretary, Suzuki Power train India Employees Union, said, "We will decide on the future course of action shortly. We have proposed a meeting of workers' apex body that will mandate the necessary decisive measures needed to be taken."

On the other hand, from Maruti’s side, a senior executive said in a statement, "With no success in the negotiations, the company will now communicate with workers through various channels. It will encourage workers to sign the 'Good Conduct Bond' and ask them to resume duties for restoring normalcy in the plant."

The ongoing stand-off has spoiled the industry hub image of the state of Haryana, as the government is not able to bring management as well as workers on the negotiation table.
