Maruti Vitara Brezza Preview

The Vitara Brezza is Maruti’s reply to the Ford Ecosport. This new compact SUV will be launched in the first half of 2016. The Maruti Vitara Brezza is a sub four-metre SUV that has space for five people. The Vitara Brezza will be sold through Maruti Suzuki dealerships and not Nexa. Maruti has named it Vitara Brezza, as it resembles the Vitara and Brezza stands for cool breeze in Italian.

Maruti Suzuki is looking at following a similar design language for all its SUV. Hence the Vitara Brezza has a lot of design cues that are picked up straight from the Vitara. The Vitara Brezza has a large front grille with the honeycomb mesh and the large S sitting proudly at the cntre. The headlamps are large is size and the crowned hood has prominent strakes that it look muscular. There are fog lamps and even LEDs at the front and the bumper even has an additional black add-ons. The wheel arches are large and the A, B and C pillars are blacked-out to give it a floating roof feeling.

The rear of the Vitara does look attractive with the chrome strip at the rear and an integrated spoiler. The tyre size of the 215/60R16. The Vitara Brezza has wheel at each corner that makes it easier to take on uneven roads.

The interiors of the Vitara Brezza are simple in design with a three spoke steering wheel that we have seen on the Baleno and the S-Cross. The instrument cluster is made up of two dials with driver information system at the centre. The centre console has a dual air-con vents, below which is a touchscreen system. The air-conditioning is climate control one on the higher variants.

The Vitara Brezza has space for five people and even the top-of-the-line variant doesn’t have leather but rather fabric upholstery. The boot size is 328 litres, which is decent for a vehicle of this size. The Vitara BRezza gets several features like keyless entry, push start and stop button, in-dash music system with Apple CarPlay, reverse parking camera, dual airbags and ABS.

The Vitara Brezza will be made available with a 1.3-litre diesel engine that will churn about 90bhp of power and 200Nm of maximum torque. This engine will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission and it might even get an AMT. The Vitara Brezza will come only as a front-wheel drive and there won’t be an all-wheel drive version for it. The Vitara Brezza won’t be coming with a petrol, at least initially it won’t be. The Maruti Vitara Brezza is likely to be priced at Rs 8.5 lakhs to Rs 11 lakhs (ex-showroom).
