In its quest to bring better and more fuel efficient cars, Maruti Suzuki is developing a brand new petrol-CNG dual engine that is capable of cutting down the fuel bill to one-fourth. Technicians at Maruti Suzuki’s R&D are close to developing a new multi-point fuel-injection (MPFI) technology in CNG mode which will help in eliminating loss of power and efficiency associated with current retro-fitted engines. Once the engine is developed successfully it will be one of the cheapest engines to run anywhere.

Currently CNG kits are fitted externally to the petrol engines that supply fuel in single flow which results in loss of benefit of the multi-point nature of petrol engine. Less usage of fossil fuel will also result in less CO2 emission and will be compliant with the latest standards; the new engine will deliver better pick up and an enormous savings of fuel bill. The company has invested in dual fuel engines after it received survey feedbacks that hybrid and electric cars are not feasible due to their high price tags. With new eco-friendly cars and better fuel economy, the new dual engine from Maruti is set to revolutionize the auto industry in the 21st century.
