Other than cosmetic tweaks and addition of few features, the vehicle will also undergo minor mechanical changes. Rumours suggest that mechanical modification will be done for increased power and torque output for enhanced fuel efficiency. Current model delivers an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.6 kmpl (petrol variant) and diesel version returns 22.9 kmpl. With the expected mechanical changes, updated Swift is expected to offer even better fuel economy. Under the hood will be the same engines, a 1.2 litre, K Series petrol and a 1.3 litre, DDiS diesel powertrain. A slight price bump is also on the cards, rumour has it that new Swift range could be priced between Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. In B segment, new Swift will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen polo, upcoming Honda Jazz and Tata Bolt. Bookings for the new Swift have already begun across MSI’s thick dealership network in the country. This hints at the launch to be happening anytime now.
