Maruti Suzuki India will launch two all-new cars- the S-Cross SX4 crossover and YRA premium hatchback in the country this year. While the S-Cross SX4 crossover will go on sale in second quarter (April/May), the YRA premium hatchback will be introduced ahead of the festive season (September/October). If media reports are to be believed, the hatchback will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The turbocharged unit will not be an all-new engine, but it will be a turbocharged version of the popular K10B engine that powers the Celerio and the Alto K10.

The current 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine is a naturally aspirated motor that churns out a maximum power output of 68PS and a peak torque of 90Nm. MSI engineers will add turbocharger to increase power and torque outputs, and try to keep its fuel efficiency high. The India-spec model will also get a diesel engine, which is likely to be the 1.3-litre multi-jet engine that also powers the Ciaz sedan and Ertiga MPV.

The YRA premium hatchback will be previewed as the Suzuki iK-2 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to commence on March 3. Based on an all-new platform, the hatchback is likely to be 90kg lighter than the Swift hatchback. It will be positioned above the Swift and will rival against the top-spec variants of Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and soon-to-be launched Honda Jazz. The hatchback is likely to share its interior components and layout with the Ciaz sedan.
