Maruti Suzuki launched the Vitara Brezza earlier this month and as one would expect, this eagerly awaited crossover model has been flying off the showrooms ever since then. Maruti, in fact, has received well over 25,000 bookings for the Vitara Brezza and as a result, the waiting period has jumped up to five months for select variants.

While the lower-spec variants have a waiting period ranging between three to four months, deliveries for the top-spec ZDi+ with the dual-tone roof would take about five months.

The Vitara Brezza is Maruti Suzuki’s much-awaited entry into the small crossover space. It’s powered by the Fiat-derived 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with around 90bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine has a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.3kmpl.

The Vitara Brezza faces stiff competition from cars like the Ford EcoSport which has been around for years. But with prices between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.68 lakh (ex-showroom), Maruti Suzuki has kept it fairly competitive and is banking on its massive afte- sales network to amplify the Vitara Brezza’s appeal among the masses.
