Ford achieved a huge milestone by showing a growth of 68.9 per cent in the sales of the EcoSport last month. However, Maruti Suzuki sold 5,563 units of the Vitara Brezza in the first month of its launch itself, which is 1,107 units more than the 4,456 EcoSports sold in March 2016.
Ford managed to record the EcoSport's highest monthly sales in 16 months this March. It should be noted that the surge in the compact SUV's sales is due to the huge price cut that Ford announced for the vehicle after the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. This, however, failed to outdo the sales numbers of the Vitara.
And it isn't a surprise as the Ford EcoSport's base diesel Ambiente 1.5L TDCi variant is pricier at Rs 7.29 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) than the Brezza's base LDi trim that costs Rs 6.99 lakh. The top-of-the-line Titanium+ 1.5L TDCi EcoSport is priced at Rs 9.75 lakh, whereas the Brezza's top-end ZDi+ is still cheaper at Rs 9.54 lakh. Competitive pricing for this good product has helped Maruti Suzuki achieve this success with the Brezza. The sales figures are expected to further increase and the carmaker is prepared and has already increased production at their plant.
