Country’s largest automaker has announced that it shall reduce its product lifecycle to about 6-years while it would also cut down on its vehicle platform to about three of four. The company has been planning on launching about 15 new products by the end of this decade, the list also includes the next-gen version of existing vehicles. The company has also reportedly invested about Rs 2,500 crore towards development of its Research and Development centre in Rohtak, which would be operational from next year.

As stated by sources, the company is considering investing about $1 billion towards development of a new platform that may be distributed across three lightweight platforms – Mini, A and B. as the move may help with the production costs, it is likely that the benefits maybe passed onto the customers. This could in-turn further help the company in gaining a stronger foothold in the Indian market.
