As competition grows stronger in the Indian market, India’s strong player in the automotive circuit Maruti Suzuki has reportedly been working on launching a sporty version of its popular Swift hatchback sometime next year. The upcoming Swift Sport is expected to be based on the 2014 Auto Expo showcased version. Eaerlier it was believed that the Swift Sport may be launched in last quarter of this year, but fresh reports from sources have indicated that the vehicle may be launched sometime next year.
A while ago sources have managed to spot the vehicle undergoing tests on streets near company’s manufacturing unit that is located in Manesar. In international markets, the Swift Sport from Maruti Suzuki is powered by 1.6 litre engine that generates a top power output of about 136 Bhp along peak torque output figures of about 160 Nm. The powerful engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
It is believed that similar engine specifications may also be carried in the Indian variant. The drive quality has been improved owing to Mcpherson struts suspension on the front whereas the rear wheels get a torsion beam. The exterior sports stylish alloy wheels, LED running lamps as seen in the Japanese and European model, larger bumpers and chrome moulded fog lamps. For safety the vehicle as gets a disc brake.
